In today’s episode of Matinee Show, we will discuss the life and cinema career of Jayalalitha, also known as ‘Puratchi Thalaivi’. Jayalalitha’s filmy career ran for nearly two decades and covered over 140 films, but strangely she never wanted to be an actress in the very first place. You will also get to know how she wasn’t allowed to watch her first tamil film ‘Vennira Aadai’ in theatres. We will discuss an anecdote from the film when she was shivering with fear before her first scene with MGR. Later, she went on to work in 28 films with MGR and each one of them was a box office hit. Besides MGR, she also worked with the likes of Dharmendra, NTR Rama Rao, Sivaji Ganesan among others. However, she bid adieu to her film career once she became part of politics. Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film ‘Thalaivi’ is based on Jayalalitha’s life. ‘Thalaivi’ hits the theatres on 23 April, 2021. Watch the video to know more.
