I'm boarding Le Champlain, one of the iconic ships in the Ponant fleet. From the moment I step aboard, I'm immersed in its unique atmosphere: elegant, refined, and resolutely focused on exploration. Here, everything is designed to combine comfort, design, and top-notch sailing. I begin the tour in my cabin. The space is perfectly optimized, bright, with high-quality materials and very comfortable bedding. Every detail is carefully considered, from the storage to the bathroom, and I immediately feel that this cabin is designed as a true haven after days of exploration. I then set off to discover the ship's bars, each with its own unique atmosphere. The most spectacular is undoubtedly the Blue Eye. Located below sea level, this one-of-a-kind lounge offers submerged windows that allow you to observe the ocean from inside the ship. The subdued lighting, organic shapes, and soundscape almost give the impression of being inside an underwater world. I continue on to the observatory bar, perched high above, ideal for navigation. This is where I like to settle in to watch the scenery go by, observing the sea, the coastlines, sometimes the ice or the twilight lights. The panorama is exceptional, and the atmosphere particularly calm. I then take a stroll around the outdoor terrace surrounding the pool. At lunchtime, the buffet is served in a setting open to the sea. In addition to the classic buffet, the ship offers different specialties each day: mussels, suckling pig, burgers, and other themed dishes. You eat outdoors, facing the horizon, in a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. I also linger in front of the ship's superb wine cellar, a veritable treasure trove for wine and spirits enthusiasts. The selection is impressive, perfectly preserved, and reflects Ponant's exacting gastronomic standards. Before concluding, I take a look at the onboard entertainment. It's intentionally more intimate than on larger cruise ships, but always polished and elegant.
