(6 Jul 2014) Israeli authorities confirmed the arrest on Sunday of several suspects connected to the murder of a Palestinian teenager whose death set off violent protests.
In a statement, Israeli police said the suspects were arrested early Sunday.
Israel's Shin Bet security agency said the suspects remain in custody and are being interrogated.
Defence lawyers for the suspects were waiting outside a courtroom in Petah Tikwa and said they were not allowed to meet their clients.
BenZion Kveler, a lawyer for one of the suspects, said he was going to go to a higher court to overturn that decision.
Mohammed Abu Khdeir, 16, was abducted last week and his charred body found a short while later in a Jerusalem forest in what Palestinians say was a revenge killing for the earlier deaths of three Israeli teens.
A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to release information about an ongoing investigation, said six people were in custody.
