The 2023 Buick Verano Pro boasts a powerful 2.4-liter four-cylinder and six-speed automatic engine that delivers ample crossover power. The turbocharged four-cylinder provides a smooth and steady ride, while the 250-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder comes with a slight turbo lag but accelerates quickly after 2,700 rpm, propelling the Verano toward the red line. Although the 2.4-liter Acura ILX hits the market faster, the Verano eliminates low-rpm lag, making it a standout among the competition. Enthusiast publications have awarded the Buick a top speed of 60 mph in the 6.5-second range.

Inside, the Verano Pro's interiors can hold their own against any luxury car in its size category. Its front-wheel drive layout offers a spacious interior with plenty of room for two adults and a third passenger in a pinch, albeit with variable legroom. The Verano's excellent front seats, ample seat travel, and headroom can accommodate even the tallest drivers, providing all-day support suitable for a broad range of driving needs.

While the 2023 Verano Pro achieved very good crash test scores, it didn't make it to the top of the compact sedan safety list. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the Verano a five-star overall safety rating, a five-star mark for frontal and side-impact collisions, and a single four-star mark for rollover collision protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) scored the small Buick sedan in all of its tests except for the notoriously grueling little overlap crash test. The IIHS did not name the Verano the Best Safety Choice or Best Safety Choice+. The 2023 Buick Verano standard safety features include 10 airbags, all-disc anti-lock brakes, and the required electronic stability system, with an optional blind spot warning system.
