The neo-baroque Neptune Fountain in the park by the TV Tower between St. Mary's Church and the Red City Hall is considered the masterpiece of sculptor Reinhold Begas.
The location of the Neptune Fountain, where it has been since 1969, is controversial.
Since the reconstruction of the Berlin Palace as the Humboldt Forum, there have been numerous advocates for a return to its original location. The Senate, on the other hand, favors leaving the fountain in place and, if necessary, erecting a high-quality replica in front of Portal 2.
Discussions are sure to continue.
