Описание к видео Redefining the support group: Liz Salmi at TEDxSacramentoSalon

Liz began blogging about her brain cancer experience immediately after diagnosis. TheLizArmy.com now receives more than 12,000 unique visitors each year, and Liz is using social media to connect with the brain tumor community around the world. In 2012 Liz lobbied Congress on the Cancer Drug Parity Act and was appointed as the California Lead Advocate for the National Brain Tumor Society. Liz serves on the UC Davis Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Advisory Board and the medical advisory board for the National Brain Tumor Society. When she's not talking about brain cancer, Liz is a digital media communicator and community organizer for a nonprofit focused on growing green jobs in the Sacramento region.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
