愚园路顾名思义的让人想起这里应该有愚园，查史料确实如此，1918年的上海老地图显示，愚园的面积包括愚园路、常德路、南京西路段，看上去面积很大，但随着时间推移，这个愚园也不知怎么消失了，也无史料记载，不知道在海外的朋友哪位知道这段历史，可否告知。愚园没了，愚园路留了下来，而且成为了当时有名的街道。
据老辈说，愚园路以前非常安静，后来就慢慢的热闹了起来。我们今天漫步的愚园，可能和上个世纪的愚园或许有很大差别，但街边的老别墅、老洋房、老里弄、还有哪些路边的老梧桐，还能让我们回忆起过去吧。
