In 1982, the California Highway Patrol commissioned the Ford Motor Company to come up with a faster, lighter, more compact police vehicle than the traditionally bulky and cumbersome Crown Victorias previously in service. Ford’s solution was to take the 5.0L Fox Body Mustang and modify it for police work. The result was the Mustang SSP (Special Service Package). Some of the many upgrades made to the SSP Mustang included an engine and transmission cooler, reinforced floor pans, racing-style silicone radiator hoses and clamps, 130- and 135-amp internally and externally regulated heavy-duty alternators, a calibrated 140 MPH speedometer, non-operational courtesy lights and, in some jurisdictions, a roll cage.
This 1982 Ford Mustang SSP is a very special example in that it was the first Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) car and a prototype vehicle used for research and development for the California Highway Patrol’s 406-unit order of first-generation Mustang SSPs. After its initial use as a prototype test vehicle, this Mustang SSP was then put in service as one of just five Mustangs used in the CHP’s EVOC training course. As a research and development car, its antenna is located on the passenger side as opposed to the standard CHP patrol cars, which had the antenna on the driver’s side.

When it comes to automotive, we have got you covered, unless you want real technical advice of course. We've got a shop(or two) full of junk, so there is always something to work on from Mustangs to Mopars to Chevy's and everything in between. We also frequent car events from big ones like Hot Rod Power Tour, Ponies In The Smokies, Pigeon Forge Rod Run, & Mustang Week to the smaller local events like the ones put on by our buddies over at the WNC Pharoahs Car Club.
When it comes to side by sides and atv's, well, CF Moto is life. But there is always a Yamaha, Polaris, or who knows what close by. Not to mention our trusty Kubota's. We've got a couple hundred acres we ride on locally here in the mountains of Western North Carolina, but are frequent visitors of the Hatfields & Mccoy Trail system in West Virginia.
Now the hunting and fishing, that's where it gets a little hit or miss. Avid deer hunters that love to bass & trout fish, we do not get alot done of either. In fact, 2022 was our worst hunting season ever. Not to mention we sold both our Bullet Bass Boats, leaving is stranded on dry ground. But we dream and hope of big fish and big kills. Who knows if that day will ever come?
In the end, the title gets it right, we are flunkies, a long way from professionals, but we enjoy what we do and enjoy sharing it with you! We draw inspirations from the likes of Roadkill, Cleetus Mcfarland, The SXS Blog Boys and Expedition Overland in hopes of bringing you some cool content and of course like all the rest, making it big one day!
