The DEATH of Marvel's Avengers...

A few years ago, if someone had told you that a big-budget AAA game based on Avengers would go on to become a critical and commercial failure that would be regarded as one of gaming’s biggest disappointments in recent memory, you wouldn’t have believed them.

Three years on from its launch, the beleaguered Marvel’s Avengers is now officially dead, with support having ended and the game no longer even being available for purchase. And with that final nail in its coffin, it’s a good time as any to look back at it and study its failures- how it failed to deliver the kind of experience it was so painfully obvious it should have been to all but the people who made it, and how it couldn’t even succeed in the thing that it did set out to do.
