There's no better way to end a day in the adventure capital of the world than to spend a night high atop it at Skyline Queenstown enjoying a meal, spending time in the bar or taking in the sunset view from Bob's Peak. Skyline Queenstown offers spectacular views of the adventure capital of the world and Lake Wakatipu from its 1480 foot perch. The main complex features a restaurant, bar, cafe and a gift shop. There’s also a mountain biking park and luge that wasn’t operational the night I was there, though several mountain goats did seem to enjoy it. The ride up is fast, steep and smooth. The restaurant atop Skyline Queenstown is a popular stop for tourists. The large dining room is reminiscent of cruise ship dining: lots of diners, long tables and what appeared to be—from my distant perch—really good food. I spent time in the bar, looking out at the magnificent view of Queenstown and surroundings. As night fell, I went to the top of the building to watch sunset from the outdoor viewing platform. A bit chilly, but more than worth it.
