In this short Oil Painting Instruction I show you How to use Retouching Varnish on Oil Colors to get more depth in the painting after it has dried. dept tend to wanish after the oil colors has dried and to get more depth and shine many people use damar Varnish , personaly i prefer to use between 1-3 lears of Retouching Varnish because i do not like to much shine and if one want to paint more later the Retouching Varnish makes that possible .

Still Life Oil Painting - Painting a Crow Road Kill wile Rotting - Artist Knut Andre Vikshåland



In this Oil Painting Still Life Study I show you how to use Retouching Varnish and Glaze and build textures and details with oil paint and create different property’s in the Crow and how to create the textures shadows and the physical room by the use of oil colors and brushwork.
I found this Crow wile driving, it has crached with a car and died so i stoped my car and piced it up and brought it to my barn studio where i painted it in a 3 week period. I t did not take long before a fly did lay egs in et and the bird seemed to come alive again as the worms started to eat it from inside out. This made the process even more interesting and also harder to finish because it keept changing as the worms did there thing ;)

I am a Norwegian artist and painter that creates youtube videos about how to make oil painting . on this channel i manly focus on oil paint and how to use brushes , oil painting medium , oil colors , how to mix oil paint , how to use the palette :)
I always start on a dark canvas because to me oil painting is like a relief where I build the river landscape like I would out of clay or carve it out from a stone or wood.
Building a painting is adding and subtracting The darkened canvas has already subtracted the light and lets building up the light .
In a landscape painting like this it is also more room for a more impressionist painting tecnique and to be looser with the brushwork.
