The number one piece of advice I usually give to newer players in Roguelikes is to avoid damage at all costs. Most Roguelike/Roguelite games feature a mechanic that encourages players to avoid ALL damage, either room-per-room, or in some cases throughout the entire run. In games like Hades, Enter the Gungeon, and obviously the Binding of Isaac, this is usually rewarded with extra items, in-game stats, or some kind of permanent passive upgrade.

In the Binding of Isaac, the most game changing part of this is the "deal" at the end of every floor. And depending on the type of Devil/Angel Deal you get, your entire run can be decided as early as Basement II.

However that isn't what happened today. Today we got one good deal and the rest were awful.
