Located about 5km from the heart of the city, Rama Krishna beach alias RK beach is a favorite picnic spot for the tourists. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy with your loved ones while enjoying the view of the sea. The added attractions around this beach are Submarine museum, Visakha museum, aquarium, kali temple and a number of eateries and parks around.
In this episode, we have covered following places order wise:
1. Kailasgiri Hilltop - Kailasagiri is a hilltop park famous for the statues of Shiva and Parvathi. The ropeway offers a spectacular view of the Bay of Bengal, and the toy train is a favorite ride for the kids visiting this place.
2. Rishikonda Beach - Rishikonda beach is known for the golden sands and is one of the cleanest beaches of Vizag. It is popular for swimming, water skiing and enjoying other water sports. The other beaches like Gangavaram beach, Yarada beach, and Bheemili beach are also quite popular here.
3. Submarine Museum - The INS Kursura submarine museum is one of its kinds in the subcontinent, giving a tour of the insides of the submarine to its visitors. One cannot miss this place while in Vizag.
4. TU 142 Aircraft Museum - Located just opposite to Submarine museum this became one more major tourist attraction at RK Beach area. After 30 years of service, the TU-142M aircraft of Indian Navy was decommissioned and placed at Visakhapatnam sea beach by converting it to a museum. You can get inside this plane and get this one-off experience.
5. Yarada Beach - Yarada Beach is situated on the west coast of Bay of Bengal in Yarada, a village at a distance of 15 kilometers from Visakhapatnam. It is located near Gangavaram beach, Dolphin's Nose, and Gangavaram Port. It is one of the most scenic beaches I have seen. And on top, the journey from Vizag city towards this place makes your day.
6. Dolphin Nose Lighthouse - Dolphin's Nose is located in Visakhapatnam between Yarada and Gangavaram Port. The hill is named as Dolphin's nose because it resembles a dolphin's nose. And on top is a real working lighthouse serving the nation. You can climb on top of this lighthouse to enjoy scenic views of Vizag city.
7. Thotlakonda Monastry - Thotlakonda Buddhist Complex is situated on a hill near Bheemunipatnam about 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, India. The hill is about 128 meters (420 ft) above sea level and overlooks the sea. Thotlakonda came to light during an aerial survey by the Indian Navy for setting up a naval base. After its discovery, major excavations have been conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Archaeology Department from 1988 to 1993. The excavations established the existence of a Hinayana Buddhist complex which flourished 2000 years ago. To the south of the complex, there is a tank that served as a water source to the inhabitants of the monastery. So do visit if you like ancient relics and places.
