Nationals Senator Matt Canavan and NSW Greens MP Abigail Boyd have gone head-to-head in a debate about whether Australia should scrap its net zero target.

This comes as after a week of heated debate over climate policy, Opposition leader Peter Dutton has declared he would scrap Labor’s 2030 emissions targets if it helped families during the cost of living crisis.

“I think we should because it’s costing Australian families far too much,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia.

“No country in the world is on target to meet their Paris commitments after nearly a decade now of the agreements – it’s clearly been a complete dud.”
