Chestnut Picking - Possible Spanish Chestnut Tree? American? // from Campbell’s Freedom Farm

Описание к видео Chestnut Picking - Possible Spanish Chestnut Tree? American? // from Campbell’s Freedom Farm

Huggy Bear and I went to Illinois to pick some chestnuts. The area we are picking this time have 3 trees that we can see. While the three trees are in the same area, one is totally different than the others. I think one of the trees may be the Spanish Chestnut or also known as the Sweet Chestnut.
Many of the leaves measure 11 to 12 inches and some of the nuts on the ground have just one large nut instead of the usual 3. My research says this can be typical of the Spanish Chestnut Tree. Its leaves are longer than the American Chestnut.
We then went to Missouri where a friend has a friend that has Chinese Chestnuts so I was able to pick a couple leaves to compare. I also was able to find some chestnuts which was hard because of the deer. So help me identify some of these trees.
The next videos concerning the chestnuts will be on how you propagate them by seed. I have a few ideals to try this year. I also will have a video where I show you how you prepare these.
