I FINALLY FINISHED IT. So basically, the idea for this video came about when I watched the Haunted Mansion 2023 movie for the first time in theaters. When they showed what the Hatbox Ghost looked like when he was alive, I thought he looked a lot more like Jerma than Jared Leto (which made everything far more palatable for me). So I thought it would be funny to draw the Hatbox Ghost saying some of Jerma's more popular clips. But then I thought it would be even funnier to make an animatic out of it.

Funny enough, this was going to be even longer but considering how long it took to make this one, I'm glad I didn't go full throttle yet. There are still a good amount of quotes I wanted to use but cut to make things easier for me on time. Maybe if there's a demand for a part 2, I'll make more but for now, I'm satisfied with what I've got. This ended up taking almost 2 years to make soooo yeah. (And you can tell because not one but THREE theme park updates including in the mansion or around it, occurred while I was making it ToT). Though, I guess it worked out in the end bc it's been 10 years since the Hatbox Ghost was reintroduced to the Mansion! AND this year marks the 70th anniversary of Disneyland! AND technically, we're still in the year of the Haunted Mansions 55th anniversary! So yeah, I'd say that checks out, heheheh.

Honestly, this was more of just a love letter to the Haunted Mansion and everything about it that's brought me comfort for pretty much all my life. However, it really wasn't until 10 years ago when I fell down the rabbit hole of the Hatbox Ghost and discovered the small but dedicated Haunted Mansion fandom that I REALLY felt the extent of that comfort. I've always wanted to give back in some way to this community and add onto the sense of lighthearted macabre fun that carried me through some of the tougher times of my teenage years. And I think this video is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to that.

Even if this doesn't really appeal to a whole lot of people other than the niche subset of Mansion superfans like me, I'm still extremely happy to have made this. Both for the purposes of learning more and expanding my storyboarding skills but also to make that younger part of me jump for joy and give them more Haunted Mansion content to feast on, but this time with my own hands.
And who knows? Maybe it might spark some new fans as well! There's nothing I'd love more than to share the vision of what I love about the Mansion and all the ghostly inhabitants from my headcanons (which were honestly kinda significantly shaped by the fan community hehehe).

Anyway, I've rambled for long enough. I hope you guys enjoy! The programs I used to make this were a combination of Rough Animator on iOS, Storyboard Pro and Premiere Pro.
