The sun rose slowly over New York City, washing the skyline in gold and rose tones, but to Kelly Ripa, it felt like the longest dawn of her life.
Her alarm buzzed at 4:30 a.m., same as always, but today the sound pierced differently—like the toll of an ending bell.

She sat at the edge of her bed, the city still half-asleep beyond the curtains, and stared at the floor. Her slippers waited exactly where she’d left them the night before, and for a long, aching minute, she couldn’t bring herself to put them on.

Today was her last broadcast.
After more than three decades of early mornings, bright lights, laughter, and cameras, Kelly Ripa was saying goodbye.

From the other side of the bed, Mark Consuelos stirred. He’d been awake long before her—he always knew when her heart was heavy.
