Ahmad Rashad: The FORGOTTEN NFL Career of an NBA Broadcasting LEGEND! | FPP

Описание к видео Ahmad Rashad: The FORGOTTEN NFL Career of an NBA Broadcasting LEGEND! | FPP

You’d be hard pressed to find someone in the basketball world who hasn’t heard of Ahmad Rashad. A legendary sports personality who was the brains and creative mind behind NBA Inside Stuff, which truly kicked off rise to the top in the world of NBA Media, as he became Michael Jordan’s go to interviewer. But less talked about, is that Ahmad Rashad was a standout athlete in his own right, except it wouldn’t be on the hardwood, it would be on the gridiron. Some people may be more familiar with Rashad as an incredible runner and receiver for the Oregon Ducks in the early 70s; as he was then known as Bobby Moore. He would be a top 5 draft pick of the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals and over his first few years in the league, was underutilized by Don Coryell in St. Louis then had a short stint with an OJ Simpson led Buffalo Bills team. But in the mid 70s, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings and became one of Fran Tarkenton’s favourite targets, as Rashad spent 7 seasons with the Vikings, making 4 pro bowls, and helping them to a Super Bowl 11 appearance vs. Oakland. He had a 4 year stretch where he became one of the league’s top receivers, and then surprisingly while he was still at the top of his game, he retired to pursue a broadcasting career. There’s no doubt now that it was the right decision, but his success in the booth has taken away from his success on the field; but both aspects of his career made up the sports icon that Ahmad Rashad truly is.
