2024 Nisky Elite 5000 - Boys 5K (FULL RACE)

Описание к видео 2024 Nisky Elite 5000 - Boys 5K (FULL RACE)

Every third weekend of April, Niskayuna High School in Upstate New York puts on a two-day track meet, featuring the Medley Relay Challenge on Friday and the Warrior Track Classic on Saturday. This year, in partnership with the Tracksmith Foundation, they launched the Nisky Elite 5000 as an opportunity for high school athletes to qualify for New Balance Nationals. Most do not get the chance to race 5K prior to June.

The 12.5 lap race included 23 boys from all corners of New York, as well as Nathan Lee from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT.

Lee & Van Furman, the USATF New York XC Player of the Year, battled it out to the final steps. Both runners broke the elusive 15-minute barrier.

Shortly behind, setting PR's of their own were Lansing's Trent Thibault (15:06.14) & Pittsford Sutherland's Will Tempest (15:11.19). A total of 17 guys (including the top 2) ran sub-16, and a total of 19 set a new 5K personal record.

Full boys results: https://ny.milesplit.com/meets/591173... (Note: Andrew Denial's listed time was his 4600m split - he finished in ~16:21. Still a true 5K PR for him - as his 15:40 shown on MileSplit was from a shorter XC course.)

Massive thanks to Jack Czajkowski & Connor Ploof for helping film this race. I couldn''t direct them while announcing the race, but that didn't stop them from doing an exceptional job. Thanks as well to the volunteers who made sure the finish line camera stayed put in the windy conditions. And finally, to Niskayuna head coach Jason DeRocco for organizing the event. I couldn't be happier with how this came out.
