This video is to show off a Jouef cc6515 I picked up off eBay very cheaply. It looks like it had a hard life and was somewhat battered, missing buffers and additional details. There was also some minor cosmetic damage. However, the mechanism was good. It is identical to the current Jouef CC6500 release, except I don't think it has digital socket and has bulbs instead of LEDs. These are very effective though, so won't be replaced. When the bulbs go, I have a spare modern circuit board I can use. The motor is the same as modern locos (centre mounted with cardan shafts to bogie gearboxes)- it drives and picks up through all wheels.
I put new pantographs on (I had a spare set), arranged new buffers and beam addons, made a new handrail and fixed any damaged paintwork. It just needs windscreen wipers, a rear cab horn, two bogie footsteps and a couple of minor roof details.

It is hauling a rake that represents an early 1970s express (just as the C160 silver / green livery was coming in). The rake is: Roco UIC-Y 1st class (still all green); DEV inox 1st class saloon (extension to the dining car); Roco Dev restaurant (in the "new" C160 red/silver); DEV inox combined 1st class saloon / bar coach; Roco UIC-Y 1st class brake coach (C160); Roco UIC-Y second class (C160); two DEV Inox 2nd class coaches; Roco UIC-Y composite; Hornby Acho mail car. The Dev Inox coaches are either Rivarossi or Jouef (made in China).

This train could perhaps be a pre-1971 l'Étendard (when it was a Rapide, before it became an all 1st class Trans Europe Express). This service ran Paris-Bordeaux.

The second train should have been hauled by my Rivarossi CC7100. However, it just stopped running for no apparent reason halfway through filming and I didn't want to stop and take it apart to find out what was wrong. So I did what SNCF would probably have done in the 1970s and substituted an ancient 2D2 5500 series electric. Mine is a Jouef (made in China) model of 5525- it doesn't have the best running characteristics, but actually it did really well with the heavy ten coach train. This is just a generic late sixties / early seventies Rapide. It consists of various Rivarossi and Jouef DEV Inox cars, two all green Lima DEV AO coaches, a Hornby ACHO CIWL restaurant and an ACHO mail car.
I still use ACHO coaches for cars that are really expensive / hard to find as they are often fairly cheap, but still look nice. I still have Pullman, restaurant and baggage cars in my fleet.
Really, this rake should have the older, shorter versions of the coaches, but I don't have those. In fact, I think the DEV Inox brake coach may not even have been delivered until 1971, so may be completely wrong- however, I am attempting to get the desired effect with what I have!
