"That time in primary school, I hated studying. I thought PSLE is nothing to me," says Khidir, a student who failed his Primary School Leaving Examination.

The examination is the first milestone for students in Singapore in their academic life before moving on to secondary school, or the high school equivalent. But what will become of Khidir and students who may not fit into Singapore’s mainstream education system? How do they prepare themselves in one of the world’s most successful economies?
