TOPEKA, KS - In a rewind of past hearings, proponents and opponents of expanding Medicaid in Kansas squared off again to argue for or against expanding Medicaid in Kansas under the Affordable Care Act. With essentially the entire health care community in Kansas supporting Medicaid expansion through extensive written testimony and the oral testimony presented during the short time allotted, none of the opponents who appeared (other than the KDHE conferee) have any actual experience with providing healthcare in Kansas.

The opponent conferees who have all appeared before and who (other than the KDHE conferee) all represent conservative political organizations, generally funded through the Koch political action network, that focus on tax cutting and 'reduced government' political advocacy rather than health care issues. Two of the opponent conferees were flown in from the east coast again this year to present their testimony once again.
