Consumer products, both aerosol and non-aerosol, contain a multitude of VOCs which are emitted regularly into indoor environments. Whilst some volatile ingredients are common, the speciation and concentration of these VOCs vary substantially not only between different types of products, but between products of the same type, none of which is well reflected in emissions inventories. This talk details how we use QTOF-GC/MS and SIFT-MS in combination with known production data to determine the role of consumer products as indoor pollutant sources, but also their contribution to total anthropogenic NMVOCs.
