[Game Trick] Tutorial: How to build DitchRoads Pharaoh Cleopatra expansion

Описание к видео [Game Trick] Tutorial: How to build DitchRoads Pharaoh Cleopatra expansion

This trick for Pharaoh with the Cleopatra expansion allows construction of combined Irrigation Ditches and Roads to save space and increase irrigated farmland by 14% in aggregate. The game logic doesn't make a distinction what direction a road crossing an irrigation ditch is facing - it simply sees a DitchRoad, a tile that's both Irrigation ditch and road. What direction it faces is purely aesthetic. In rare cases this method allows building a whole extra line of irrigated farms. Because instead of Farm, Road, Farm, Irrigation Ditch you can have Farm, DitchRoad, Farm. Which takes 7 tiles instead of 8. DitchRoads can also go around corners but I don't think 3 way intersections.

To build straight DitchRoads:
1. Make the road out to the edge of where the water source or last farm will be.
2. Start putting alternating ditch segments into the road, usually starting from water to make sure it's connected.
3. Delete all regular road segments.
4. Make 2 irrigation ditch tile series going perpendicular to each road tile you deleted.
5. Connect the remaining DitchRoad tiles using road tiles on the new ditches.
6. Trim the unnecessary ditch tiles off the sides.
7. Build farms.

To build DitchRoads around a corner:
1. Put an irrigation ditch tile EXACTLY where the corner will be. Put a road a tile on it.
2. Make a \ / shape of irrigation ditches touching the corner, these ditches don't touch each other.
3. Place road tiles where you want them on the new ditches to connect the corner.
4. Follow the instructions for a straight DitchRoad.

It's a little trickier than the aqueduct-road exploit in Caesar 3 but worth it in some situations. I wasn't gonna make a tutorial for this but I didn't find anyone else had.

No idea if this works in Pharaoh: A New Era.
