Bangladesh Crisis: Muhammad Yunus to Lead Interim Government in Bangladesh: Who is Mohd Yunus?

Following the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh's Nobel laureate and microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus has been appointed to lead an interim government. The decision was announced after a meeting involving President Mohammed Shahabuddin, military leaders, and the Students Against Discrimination group. In response to the deadly protests that led to Hasina's departure, Shahabuddin also dismissed the national police chief. Yunus, who has been indicted on embezzlement charges but maintains his innocence, is set to lead amid ongoing controversy.
