Like a Rolling Stone - A Closer Look at Jimi's Licks

I'm moving so slow from my surgery that I just wanted to get this series started. I will do a more in-depth look in the next part or parts. I've got this and the Country Blues series going now so I have a lot of work to do. Jimi's delicate attack is what makes this song so sweet. He goes from barely touching the strings to get a clean sound to really digging in hard to energize the Fuzz Face and his cranked amps. I'm using the Analog Man Voodoo Fuzz (Germanium) on this with the fuzz maxed out almost (4:00), and the volume around 3:00. My guitar volume is between 6-7 but I think I liked it closer to 7. I'm using an original 1959 Bassman amp. Jimi's fills between chords are what always interested me in this song. I show you a few here. There are three verses in the Monterey Festival version. He plays a different variation of his licks in each verse. His variety of chords and licks are what make him so great. I'm like you and cannot get enough. Enjoy.
