Hapstone lapping Kit includes 10" x 4" x 1/2" (250х100х12мм) float glass for lapping stones and three 100g bottles of silicon carbide lapping powders - 220grit coarse, 400 grit medium and fine 600 grit.
One side of the glass is etched to be used with lapping powders to flatten the sharpening stones. It is 0.5mm deep and makes the plate much more aggressive for lapping with the lapping powders. It also allows for swarf runoff, minimizing stiction on finer grit stones.
The other side is perfectly smooth and flat. It can accommodate a half wide sheet of full sized sand paper or lapping film, and can be used as a reference plate for knives, chisels, planes.
To use the lapping side of the plate, wet the surface of the glass, but don't pool any water. Lightly sprinkle the desired powder grit evenly across the surface. Pre soak your stones if necessary, then mark the surface of the stone with a grid pattern in pencil. Lap with even pressure using an X pattern until pencil marks are removed.

The New Naniwa Chocera Pro Stone is the highest-grade stone from Naniwa.

There are regular sharpening stones and then there are sharpening stones that become your most valued possessions. The Naniwa Chocera Pro is one of those products. Everything about them was designed for the most discriminating user. An experienced user is looking for a stone that not only sharpens well, but sharpens quickly. The Naniwa Professional is so consistent and quick to sharpen that it is truly a pleasure to use.

Generously Sized
The Naniwa Chocera Pro Stones we carry are quite generously sized. The actual dimensions are 210 x 70 x 20mm. This roughly translates to 8 1/4" long x 2 3/4" wide x 3/4" thick. This size is just about perfect for most knives and tools. The thickness of the single grit stone will last countless sharpening sessions.

Wide Range of Grits
We stock the Naniwa Chocera Pro Water stones in the following grits: 400, 600, 800, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 (shown in order from left to right in the photo above). While it isn’t necessary to own every single grit, we do recommend at least three to cover your coarse, fine and polishing needs. A good three grit set is the 400, 1000 and 5,000. The 10,000 grit is costly to produce and is therefore more expensive. If your budget allows, the 10,000 grit Chocera Pro is a really great polishing stone for any edge. This high-end stone will quickly become a prized possession in the hands of an experienced sharpener. You'll truly appreciate the consistent feel and fast-cutting that all Professional stones offer.

Magnesia Bonding
What makes the Chocera Pro different from other water stones is the bonding. They call it Magnesia Bonding in comparison to their Resin bonding on the Naniwa Advance Superstone series. One of the main features of this process is greater density and consistency of finely graded abrasive particles. This gives the stone the fastest sharpening capability among our water stones. Experienced users can really feel a difference with these stones.

Splash and Go
Soaking the Chocera Pro stones is not recommended. A quick in and out dunk in water, or spraying them several times over the coarse of a minute or so is all that's required. We do recommend keeping a spray bottle handy to keep the stones wet while sharpening.
Q. Has this stone had other names?
