DIAMOND HANDS ON ICE: Ft. Wayne Komets VS Kalamazoo Wings (2/4/24)

The Fort Wayne Komets (23-17-4) has now finally slid to 3rd in the division in points thanks to the Wheeling Nailers' current seven game winning streak. However, thanks to a relatively good stretch for the Komets, they have put just a little bit of breathing room between them and that ever dreaded playoff cut line. After a splitting the weekend to the Cincinnati Cyclones, including a 7-1 annellation of the Cyclones. That result put the Komets on the good side of the +/- goal differential on the season for the first time all season. The team looks to finally get their constancies together and go on bit of a run now. Today also marks the Komet Debut of Daniel "Diamond Hands" Amesbury the much anticipated enforcer. It seems to be a controversial signing (signing someone from the middle "A" minor league straight to "AA" would do it, maybe it's because it will make department of players' safety cringe.) The Komets hope that this will bring the Komets back to their Hey days like the IHL Komets of old. Myself on the other hand, absolutely despise the signing because I don't like a guy playing four minutes a night just to fight and that's it, they might as well start with 16 skaters on the bench if he's going to spend most of his time in the penalty box. Who knows maybe I will be wrong and he'll be the next Steve Fletcher or Scotty Gruhl (there's a couple of throwbacks for you more experienced Komet fans.)

Kalamazoo Wings (Not Buffalo Wild Wings) (20-18-3) have turned things around after finding themselves in the basement for much of the season. They sit in the 5th spot of death in the division, but they're in the conversation for playoffs for the first time in a few seasons. (Man handling the Toledo Walleye all season will tend to do that, maybe The Komets can take some notes off of these guys.) They have yet to beat the Komets this year going (0-3-1) in four meetings so far. They have a pretty abysmal power play at 14.9% so that maybe their Achilles Heel this season. I personally don't have anything for or against the Wings, now the Western Michigan Broncos on the other hand, I might have something to max out the 5,000 character limit in the description but I'll spare you guys the pain.
