It is a German military march popularized by Wehrmacht troops during World War II. «Erika», is especially known for its first stanza "Auf der Heide blüht ein kleines Blümelein" ('A little flower blooms in the heather').

The romantic text of the lyrics made the soldiers feel removed from the war, while the melody was perfect for the troops to march and sing at the same time.
