In The Desolation of Smaug, a scene where the dwarves confront Thranduil after being captured was cut from the final film. Originally, the dwarves were meant to be brought before Thranduil, leading to an intense exchange of insults, showing a more confrontational side of Thranduil. This scene highlighted tensions between the dwarves and elves, with lines like, “Is this how you treat travelers to your lands?” to which Thranduil replies, “Only the ones who annoy me.” However, director Peter Jackson ultimately decided to remove it to streamline the storyline, allowing a later conversation between Thorin and Thranduil to convey the necessary tension.
