CBS News Miami’s Jim DeFede goes one-on-one with Robin Peguero, one of the Democrats running against Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar next year. Peguero is the only Hispanic Democrat in the race who is also fluent in Spanish. That gives him a significant advantage in the Democratic primary because the district is 70% Hispanic. The two discuss that and why Peguero thinks he can move on and unseat Salazar.

Also, DeFede goes one-on-one with Democrat Lucia Baez-Geller, who just announced she is running against Republican Fabian Basabe in the state house district that encompasses portions of Miami Beach, North Miami Beach and Aventura. The former Miami-Dade school board member lost in her bid in 2024 to oust Elvira Salazar. DeFede asks Baez-Geller why she decided to challenge Basabe.
