Chopta is a small hamlet located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 8790 ft. The place is famous for alpine meadows and is often referred as the ‘Mini Switzerland of Uttarakhand’. The trek for Tunganath temple (the world’s highest temple dedicated to Lord Shiva), Chandrashila Summit (which offers 360˚ view of the Himalayan peaks) and Deoria Tal (famous for mirror reflection of the Ckaukhamba peaks on its water) can be trekked from here. The trail passes through bugyals & offers enchanting view of the snow-clad mountain peaks. Chopta is also famous for camping which can be of great fun.
