Not Just for Gar Guys! - Milwaukee Tool is expanding their tool line up, like always, but they are getting into more tools for us car guys!  No matter how well-lit your work area is, while working on cars and trucks, we always need more light.  In recent years, smaller LED lights have been a huge improvement over the solutions from years ago.  Milwaukee Tool's M12 LED Underhood Light takes mechanics lights to a new level.  The light is constructed with a high-impact, chemical resistant, polycarbonate lens and aircraft aluminum frame. Being able to fit on many different sized vehicles is important, so Milwaukee designed it to extend from 47 to 78 inches.  The LED light delivers 1350 lumens of Milwaukee’s TrueView High Definition light so all the wires look the exact color that they would if working in normal sunlight. While in underhood holster the light can be can be rotated and slid, but it can also be removed and hung from its stainless steel hook.   The amount of options of use make this a light for more than just automotive use.

Paint Safe

From a mechanic in the shop to the shade tree mechanic, no one wants to scratch a car while mounting a light.  Duct tape was very popular as a padding to help decrease scratches on older lights as the rubber wore off the mounting frames and left a metal to metal contact area that would leave marks in paint.  Milwaukee committed to solving that issue with a quality mounting area that they call FinishGuard.  This area is a softer rubber mounting overmold that is designed not to cut or tear.  This should leave the light duct tape free for a long time.

Once mounted to a vehicle, the light can slide from side to side and rotate to keep the LED lights out of your eyes and in the area where the light is needed.  There are two modes of light to fit the area you are working.  The aluminum frame is easy to manipulate and light weight, but also very sturdy.  While this is called an underhood light, we found this light to be able to be used inside a vehicles, under vehicles, in the trunks and just about anywhere including in your tool box.  Resist the urge to use this as a light saber in the shop if you can.

We have found this light to fit excellent on our lift to give us light under vehicles.  Rarely is there something in our shop that we fall in love with, but we have a light crush on Milwaukee's new underhood light!
