Kitabwala is a weekly show in which we interview authors to delve into their books. In this weekly episode of Kitabwala, Saurabh Dwivedi spoke with the Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi on his book, ‘Tum Pahle Kyon Nahin Aaye’ published by Rajkamal Prakashan. This is a collection of 12 real, heart wrenching and eye-moistening stories about children escaped from Circus, Human Trafficking, forced begging, human sacrifices and sexual harassment. Kailash penned down the experience of these people with a humane and reverent approach. Kailash called upon the religious leaders and society in large to spread the message to stop these ill-practices against children and try to make them smile. About the Author:- Mr. Kailash Satyarthi is one of the tallest leaders and the loudest voice in the global fight against exploitation of children. He left a lucrative career as an Electrical Engineer and started ‘Bachpan Bachao Andolan’ (Save the Childhood Movement) to rescue children and their families from the shackles of slavery paving way for their reintegration into mainstream society with the help of state actors under the legal policy framework of India. Through his sustained policy advocacy efforts in India he played a pivotal role in mobilizing support ensuring the passage of the Child Labour Act in the year 1986.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for “focusing attention on the grave exploitation of children for financial gain”. He is also the founder of Satyarthi Foundation and Global March Against Child Labour.
