History of stamp paper
Before the advent of the Internet and email, and even today, if you have sent a letter to someone, you must have sent some goods, then you must have seen that you have to paste a postage stamp on your letter or registry. This is the payment you make to the government for sending your letter to your goods from one place to another. Stamp paper, mainly believed to be an invention of Spain, was first introduced in the Netherlands in 1620, and in the first half of the 16th century it became widespread in France and Britain. According to the Stamp Act of 1765 AD, the use of stamp paper printed and verified in London was made mandatory in the British colonies (which included India). Later it played an important role in igniting the flames of America's freedom struggle.
STAMP - SECURITY OF THE PAPER
Where the stamp is printed in its upper part, some special measures are taken for the security so that no one can copy it and cause financial loss to the government. You must have heard the name of Abdul Karim Telgi in the stamp paper scam. Who (Abdul Karim Telgi) had defrauded the Indian government of crores of billions of rupees by doing a massive stamp paper scam in India. To avoid such scams, e-stamp paper ie electronic stamp paper is now being made available in various countries. In India also, there is a system of e-stamp paper in about 18 to 19 states.
STAMP - CLASSIFICATION OF PAPER
According to the Indian Stamp Act, stamp paper is divided into two parts, first Adhesive Stamp Paper and second Impressed Stamp Paper. Mainly can be divided into two parts, the first is Judicial Stamp Paper, which is used in the courts to pay various types of fees and in other legal work. Second Non-Judicial Stamp Paper which can be used for Transfer of Property, Commercial Agreement, Power of Attorney (Documents), Transaction Documents Insurance Policy Policy) is the transaction of property on rent etc.
In India, on the basis of the Stamp Act 1899, the stamp duty of non-judicial stamp paper and the stamp duty of judicial stamp paper is paid on the basis of the Court Fee Act 1870. The paper stamp paper commonly used by us is Non Judicial Stamp Paper only. Which we use to make various transactions valid in our life.
STAMP - PAPER EXPIRATION & VALIDITY
No time limit has been set for its expiry. But any person who does not require the stamp paper in the near future, and has taken it on the stamp paper, within 6 months from the day of issue of the stamp paper, he can deposit it in his collectorate and get a refund in return for it. That is, frankly speaking, after 6 months there will be no refund. This does not mean that the validity of the stamp paper will be over... !
If a Non-Judicial stamp paper is executed, the related work is performed, then it is valid for life time. Frankly speaking, there is no mention of Invalid being canceled anywhere! Efforts are being made to make available the facility of e-stumping in India along with various countries.
