Frame and Panel Bed building process by Doucette and Wolfe Furniture Makers

This bed is handmade of solid Tiger Maple and Straight grain quarter sawn cherry. The solid cherry frame and structure is sawn from the same tree for consistent color and is oriented with straight grain throughout. The solid tiger maple panels are re-sawn from a 16" wide plank with spectacular figure. This bed is queen size and is made for a large matress that will sit even with the bottom of the headboard. The box-spring is replaced by solid poplar slats that are easily removable without the need for tools. This bed is made with a custom designed invisible bead bolt system that allows for easily disassembly of the side rails for moving. The headboard and footboard are made constructed with mortise and tenon joinery that is pegged for additional strength and aesthetics.
