The German Minister of Finance, Christian Lindner identifies three priorities to make Europe's economy future-proof and what must be done to give Europe's economy new impetus after the pandemic and the energy supply crisis. Firstly, private capital markets must be able to finance the future. This means strengthening the financial centre of Europe. Secondly, Europe should focus more on generational equity in public finances. Thirdly, it is important to strengthen trade with partners who share the same values. Concluding, regulations and interventions should be aligned with the social market economy to encourage growth opportunities.

This statement was taken after an event organised by Friedrich Naumann Foundation European Dialogue and the German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce on the 15th of February 2023.
