Do you want to add more sensors to an android device or just replace the poor quality ones that are there? The source code for doing this is technically out there but it's hard to make out the big picture of how it all goes together. This presentation will provide a map of how sensors interact with Android from silicon on up to apps, then will dive deep into implementing the Android Sensors Hardware Abstraction Layer interface and how it interfaces to the underlying Linux infrastructure. Whether you've never put together your own Android device, don't have much experience with sensors, or are an experienced embedded Linux developer, you'll get something from this talk. Expect block diagrams, hand waving, code examples, links to public repositories and information on up-to date devices.
