The X-ray spectrum represents two variables; photon number and photon energy. These variables are used to describe X-ray beam quality and X-ray beam quantity. As we manipulate various controls when acquiring a radiograph we will affect the quality and quantity of the X-ray beam. Let's first define X-ray beam quality and quantity prior to examining how various parameter changes can affect the X-ray spectrum (which we will cover in the next talk.)
