In this latest edition of the ECM series, Tony leads us to a surprising member of the ECM family, Leo Smith's unique Divine Love. The record cover itself comes off like any other ECM record in that you think it's going to be either a completely improvised record, or a bebop influenced records.

This record falls into neither craft, and is a carefully constructed aural masterpiece of panning dynamics and discipline stretched out over a variety of different settings.

In other words, there's probably more space on this record than any other ECM record leading up to it.... and it's a work of beauty. This is one you should hear whether you should decide to buy, but a clean copy is a must because of the dynamic nature (almost classical) recording method applied to the Eicher magic. Highly recommended for a listen, and for those who are avant oriented.
