This tripod is pretty surprising for the price. The head does not have a quick release plate (there is a knob to clamp the plate)
but the pan is butter smooth, and the head is as well built as you could hope for. The ball joint did just fine with a 300mm zoom on adapter on my gx8 at 7.5" when extended. I have not used it in rough winds yet but seems like this tripod is OK for Micro 4/3. I might be worried with APSC or bigger, or lenses over 2lb or 10". You may want something more heavy duty. But if you've got a smaller camera, or lights, or whatever, this tripod is a great value, under 2lb weight, and very compact.
