Advice for PhD students considering a career in industry

Описание к видео Advice for PhD students considering a career in industry

Universities have a fantastic track record of training PhD students as very highly skilled scientists. But those considering a move into industry after their PhD, often face a transition from working for themselves to working in large multi-disciplinary teams.

Dr Caroline Pope, who coordinates PhD training at the University of Edinburgh's School of Biological Sciences together with industry partners Steve Rees, Vice President of Astra Zeneca and Steve Martin, Vice President and Head of Biopharma Molecular Discovery at GSK explain what skills PhD students need to develop and how to take advantage of opportunities that will prepare them for their future career.

Industry placements, skills training workshops and specific events like the Skills School offer our PhD students opportunities to meet and work with students from other disciplines, get advice from industry experts and develop essential skills such as networking, influencing others and leading and working in teams.
