Where should we begin, when designing a neighborhood? The green parts! You might think of streets, blocks, and buildings, but parks, greenways, and blueways are crucial in giving form to livable cities and towns. These green components are not just the leftovers, but address-makers for real estate value, community benefits, ecological restoration, and public health. The modern planning profession began with parks, as an antidote to the smoky industrial city. Today, especially with a global pandemic, we return to our parks for physical and mental well-being.
