The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Redevelopment - Historical Timeline

We are excited to announce the official opening of our newly redeveloped hospital! The Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas, Minister for Health, Infrastructure and Ambulance Services, officially opened the hospital on Tuesday 23 May, 2024.

The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is Australia’s only specialist eye and ear hospital, and for over 160 years, we’ve been at the forefront of specialist care, education, research and innovation. 

Our new state of the art hospital benefits patients, staff and visitors with new facilities and bright open spaces. We extend our gratitude to the Australian Government, Victorian Department of Health and the Victorian Health Building Authority for their collaboration and support throughout this transformative journey.
