Why Every School Should be a Sustainable Community School

Описание к видео Why Every School Should be a Sustainable Community School

The Sustainable Community Schools model brings together children, parents, and communities to collaborate in educating students as whole human beings. This approach is about delivering racial and social justice to the children of color who make up the bulk of students in Chicago Public Schools. What will make these community schools sustainable is both a commitment to funding and resources, and a commitment to the long-term process of developing school-community relationships that support implementation of proven strategies to the fullest extent.

Chicago currently has 20 Sustainable Community Schools, and the Chicago Teachers Union in conjunction with its community partners and allies is calling on CPS to expand that number to 75 — and ultimately to make every CPS school a sustainable community school.
