The backstory
Earlier in May, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr wrote a letter to EchoStar Chairman Charlie Ergen signaling an investigation into its 5G network, saying he has "directed [FCC] agency staff to begin a review of EchoStar's compliance with its federal obligations to provide 5G service throughout the United States per the terms of its federal spectrum licenses."

Specifically, "he's really looking at three different but kind of related things," says Mike on this week's episode of What's the Story? "The first is EchoStar's use of what we'll call its 2GHz spectrum ... The second thing he's going to look at ... is whether EchoStar has hit its required buildout obligations," he explains.
