We hope you are inspired to look into self build as a route to a home of your own. After land costs you can essentially build a basic new timber framed property with a modified version of the Segal method today for around £45-50K and a lot of blood, sweat and tears (of joy)

You can build (with wood from sustainably grown sources) and EcoCocon Engineered Straw wall panels or insulate your home with earth kind low VOC and sustainable products, like /Cellulose / Hemp / Woodwool / Lambswool / Cork etc. They even recycle old Denim jeans and offcuts into insulation now.

Self build may sound a bit strange, but in other countries it is commonplace. If you are on your own or thinking about a co-operative set up, you first need to register with your local council (as all are required) to have a "SELF-BUILD REGISTER" here are some useful links :
