Bruce Wayne As the Mask is NONSENSE

Bruce Wayne being perceived as merely a mask while Batman is considered his true persona or identity is a common misconception among DC and Batman fans. It's disingenuous to adopt the mentality that every aspect of Bruce Wayne is just for show, as that disregards the character's sense of justice, compassion, and empathy. Several stories in DC Comics continuity, such as Bruce Wayne: Murder/Fugitive, demonstrate how, with the help of Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl, Batman will always be Bruce Wayne, even as a caped crusader. Many of Batman's close allies in the Justice League, like Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, and Green Lantern, call him Bruce because they know him on a personal level. Many average non-comic readers share the belief that Bruce is a mask, partly due to portrayals in Batman Beyond and other media in the DCAU and DCEU. Hopefully, the new DCU under James Gunn will shed light on how vital Bruce Wayne is to the Batman persona.
