This is Nitika Thakur starting HP gk series in which we will cover hp geography, art and culture of Himachal Pradesh, administration of hp, ancient medivial and modern history of himachal Pradesh and district profile of Himachal Pradesh.

Wetlands are the most stable ecosystem in the world .any area that is temporary and permanently covered with water is known as wetland .
Himachal Pradesh has 92 wetlands out of which 85 are natural and 7 are man made.

Ramsar convention was held on 2nd Feb 1971 in Iran. In which 169 countries were participated. India joined hand with this agreement in 1985.

Himachal Pradesh has 3 ramsar sites i.e. pong dam (kangra) chandratal lake (lahaul spiti) and Renuka lake ( sirmaur ) .
