Born into Care - Blackpool

The research and subsequent guidelines have led to important practice change in some areas. In Blackpool, there has been significant investment in a co-production process, in which practice managers from midwifery and children's social care are working with parents with lived experience of the system to review practice and co-design a new offer for parents at risk of being separated from their babies at birth.

This film explains more about the process and the 8 key principles that have been agreed, covering the pre-birth/pre-proceedings process through to the importance of providing support to mothers and fathers who are separated from their babies by court decisions.
